Miss World 2014...South Africa wins!

The 22-year-old Miss South Africa was crowned onstage at the competition's grand final held at the Excel London ICC Auditorium on Sunday.

Rolene Strauss, 22, a Nelspruit native, who counts women’s rights, health and education as her inspiration for contesting, was among 122 contestants who competed for the coveted title. She was given the crown by her predecessor, Miss World 2013, Megan Young of the Philippines.

Wearing a pale pink, off-the-shoulder, romantic-style, cleavage-baring, ruffled evening gown, topped with the high, blue and golden jeweled crown, Strauss waved and smiled at the crowd.

"South  Africa, this is for you,” She said after being announced the winner. “I’m so proud of you and I’m proud to be your representative".
